Next of Kin
Edmonton, Alta.
Step off Edmonton’s 121 St. NW and descend the stairs to discover Next of Kin’s speakeasy. In the basement of a historic Wîhkwêntôwin brick building in the Brewery District, this sleek, retro lounge has earned a place on the ‘Canada’s 50 Best Bars’ list. The vibe is reminiscent of a chic mid-century living room, complete with moody lighting, stylish vintage furniture and a pristine, high-fidelity sound system. Yes, they play vinyl. And yes, the cocktails — including the Kin Martini, Café Au Lait and Five Alive — are delectable. — Cassandra McCalla
