Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen at River Cree & Casino
Gordon Ramsay is finally sharpening his knives for Canada. Hell’s Kitchen is scheduled to make its Canadian debut in early summer 2026 at River Cree Resort and Casino, just west of Edmonton. The British celebrity chef, famous for his Hell’s Kitchen TV show, is partnering with the province’s powerhouse entertainment resort, owned and operated by the Enoch Cree Nation. Ramsay will undoubtedly bring his signature dishes, such as Beef Wellington and Sticky Toffee Pudding, and promises to infuse his menu with a blend of flavours inspired by Indigenous cuisine. This hell may have no fury — but it will surely have plenty to savour. — Cassandra McCalla

The Last Chance Saloon
Wayne, Alta.
When considering destinations that are worth driving to, sometimes it’s all in a name. And the Last Chance Saloon has just the kind that resonates. It’s familiar, to be sure — possibly because so many watering holes in frontier North America carried that exact moniker. The one in Wayne, Alberta, dates back to the Wild West years — it was established in 1913, to be exact — and it sports the bullet holes in the wall to prove it. (Ask your server to show you.)
The saloon shares the ground floor of the Rosedeer Hotel, which was built during the booming mining days of the early 20th century by the Rosedeer Coal Mining Company. Go for the nostalgia — the interior is like a living museum — but stay for the legendary brisket: all beef is sourced locally from Boe Farms in nearby Dalum. On your way, take a break and see some sites. Here are a few of our favourites. — Will Scott
