Homes Crossing Sandhills Ecological Reserve

Hit the road towards this ecological reserve to find one of the rare occurrences of transverse dunes in Canada. Two hours northwest of Edmonton is where you’ll find these long, undulating ridges that span a nature preserve of nearly 20 square kilometres. Stretch your legs on a hike through dense jack pine trees that have grown into a forest over the dunes, now home to moose, bears and even mountain lions.
